The picture above is a sample portion of a WAC chart and a representation of the level of detail found. The map below shows the areas of coverage and the names of the charts of the specific areas.
World Areonautical Charts cover land areas at a standard size and scale for navigation by moderate speed aircraft and aircraft operating at high altitudes.
The topographical information includes city tints, principal roads, railroads, distinctive landmarks, drainage patterns and relief.
The aeronautical information includes visual and radio aids to navigation,
airways, airports, restricted areas, obstructions and other pertinent information. Because of their smaler scale, these charts
do not show as much detailed information as appears on Sectional or Terminal Area charts. Class D and E and limits of controled airspace are not shown.
Therefore, WAC's are not recommended for exclusive use by pilots
of low altitude and low speed aircraft.
WAC's are updated annually, except for a few in Alaska, Mexico, and the Caribbean, which are revised bi-ennially.
